Former Los Angeles Lakers Coach Frank Vogel has been chosen as the new coach of the Phoenix Suns, The Arizona Republic and ESPN reported on Friday.

Vogel was offered a five-year, $31-million deal, The Republic reported.

The Suns fired coach Monty Williams after a Western Conference playoff loss to the Denver Nuggets, and he was hired on Thursday by the Detroit Pistons, as previously reported by The Dallas Express.

Vogel, who will inherit a Suns team that includes star players Kevin Durant, Chris Paul, Devin Booker and Deandre Ayton, led the Lakers to the 2020 NBA championship.
