Bowdoin College picks up Ursuline’s Joy Liu

Glenn Minnis | Jun 20, 2021

Ursuline Academy of Dallas volleyball star Joy Liu has signed a letter of intent to attend Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine.

“I am so excited to meet my new team and happy to be given the chance to play my favorite sport at the collegiate level,” Liu said on the school’s website. “I love the lessons that volleyball has taught me, and over the years, have seen how much my character has grown since starting the sport.”

Liu, who first started playing at 12, excels at the setter position.

“No matter what, my job as the setter is to provide a perfect set to my hitters so they have the best chance of scoring a point,” she said. “I always remember this so I can work my hardest and walk off the court after every game knowing I put my heart out on the court.”

Earlier this year, Liu also starred on the Madfrog 18 Black team and won a Bid to National GJVC. In 2020, Liu was named to the TAPPS 6A District Second Team.

She plans to major in economics and/or government and politics at Bowdoin.
