Two California-based firms have joined forces to develop two single-family home rental communities in North Texas.

Provident General Contractors of Dallas has already begun construction on The Highland in Melissa and The Oak Grove in Crossroads, a pair of projects under development by Legacy Partners and the investment firm Resmark Cos.

“While we historically have developed multifamily properties, we made the decision to pivot to single-family homes after analyzing the surrounding communities and recognizing the need to accommodate families who desire this lifestyle,” Legacy Partners’ Matt Brendel told The Dallas Morning News. “Both communities are in fast-growing suburban communities with easy access to major employers throughout the Metroplex.”

The Oak Grove is in Denton County, and The Highland is in Collin County. In those developments, a combined 267 homes are being built, the DMN reported. The one-, two- and three-bedroom homes in Melissa will be as large as 1,500 square feet, and those in Crossroads are expected to exceed 1,600 square feet, according to the news outlet.

The properties will include amenities such as resort-style pools, fitness centers, dog parks, and clubhouses.

“Legacy has a deep history in North Texas, with more than 1,500 apartment homes built since 2022 and over 2,000 total,” Brendel told DMN. “We’re pleased to continue to fulfill the residential demand in this market.”

The Dallas-Fort Worth area continues to be one of the top markets for rental home construction, with more than 5,200 properties built last year.

Legacy has developed more than 78,000 apartment homes since its founding in 1968 and manages over 50 multifamily communities across the U.S., its website shows.
