Carrollton will soon break ground on a transit-oriented development (TOD) planned years ago.
Carrollton will begin construction in January on a new space for connecting. The mixed-use project will reside on a 25-acre plot of land owned by the city and DART, along Dickerson Parkway.
Where President George Bush Turnpike crosses Interstate 35E, Carrollton will create a new urban village. Construction will begin with a five-story, high-density structure: Eviva at Trinity Mills Station.
Dallas’ JHP Architecture designed Trinity Mills Station to be a walkable community hub between the DCTA’s A Line and DART’s Green Line.
Accompanying 436 residential units will be marquee office towers and retail spaces filling pavilion structures. These will grace a boulevard embracing a “Great Lawn,” an open space where the public can enjoy special events — concerts, gatherings, and markets.
Two nearby commuter rail stations — Trinity Mills Station and North Carrollton/Frankford Station — will offer readily accessible transportation for residents and guests alike. Some might stay in a new high-end hotel that may be added later.
JHP Architecture said the urban “Neighborhood” will also have room for “a future residential tower (luxury for sale).”
DFW’s largest publicly-owned TOD (nearly 26 acres) is being developed by Atlanta’s Integral Group. Carrollton is providing the land for the esplanade and spending $12 million to support the development with base infrastructure.
