Local County Republican Chair Bo French: ‘The Delusion Is Real’

Bo French, chair of the Tarrant County Republican Party, said he hopes to restore traditional values and reinstate unadulterated truth in society.

The party underwent a change of leadership in October 2023 as French was sworn in as the new chair. This transition marked a new chapter for Tarrant County Republicans as they aim to maintain their position as a prominent political force in the region.

Tarrant County is home to a rapidly increasing population of over 2 million, making it one of the most populous counties in Texas.

French said he is taking on a significant responsibility as chair that requires a deep understanding of the county’s history and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances that will impact the party’s future. It is a challenging role that requires strong leadership skills, keen political acumen, and a deep commitment to the people. French said he has all three in spades.

He recently spoke with The Dallas Express about his views on what he considers to be the moral debasement being advocated in some corners of the United States and how Republicans must come together to recognize the driving force behind the manipulation of truth, faith, and values.

“This is a decades-long war from the left on everything that is good, right, true, and beautiful,” claimed French.

He argued that many on the left use issues to divide people, claiming that this serves as a tactic of distraction to chip away at the foundation of many Americans’ beliefs and that it runs much deeper than campaign platforms and propaganda.

“Conservatives should be rallying around conservative platforms,” said French, citing school choice and lowering property taxes. But there is something more at play, he asserted. “On every facet of what is happening politically, we can trace it back to a rejection of the things that we know are right.”

French claimed that what’s happening these days is more of a spiritually driven battle meant to do more than unseat politicians. He argued that it is more about upending the values that the country stands for as a society.

“The only way the left can truly win is to throw society into such a state of disarray that [people] start seeking other idols — whether it is more government, more laws, or more control,” said French. This, he said, is accomplished by such subterfuges as diminishing the importance of the nuclear family, confusing people with gender dysphoria, and compelling people to affirm what is morally debased.

“Unfortunately, we have a lot of people who are not truly paying attention,” French said, asserting that the left continues to “force a false narrative” into the media landscape and even in children’s classrooms. However, French said he senses a change: people are noticing what society is becoming and are refusing to subscribe to the degeneration.

“I have been so encouraged in the last few years because I feel like more and more people are waking up,” said French. However, he said recognizing the truth has become more and more difficult.

“It is very difficult today,” said French. “There are so many forces that are opposed to what is true and try to confuse people. The delusion is real. Just look around.”

French said he finds truth in God, recognizing the importance of “having a foundation in biblical truth because, for me, that is where all truth comes from.”

“If you don’t start here, it is very difficult to see through the confusion in society and the wicked in our government that they are trying to foist on people,” he said.

Moral corruption is not only being fed to adults but also to our children, French noted, saying that “the left is pushing a narrative to young kids” that invites the reframing of what is right and wrong. He encourages people to rally against the left’s war to destroy the country’s bedrock of values, noting that he would continue the fight.

“The left is notorious for name-calling, but frankly, it has lost its power,” said French. “I am doing what I know to be right, and I am going to fight for what is right.”

In examining the fight over securing the southern border, French said, “It is widely understood among constitutional scholars that the states absolutely have the right to defend themselves against invasion, so we should be doing this more here in Texas given that the federal government is not doing it.”

When asked about the counter position that unlawful migrants fill labor shortages, French explained that while they may provide labor, they also “cost taxpayers a fortune.” Additionally, “in Texas alone, just educating illegal aliens is costing somewhere between $5 and $10 billion a year,” he said. “This is costing American taxpayers.”

French said he is a proponent of E-Verify to ensure workers are here legally. “I think a lot of people [who are here illegally], if they cannot get a job and free stuff from the government, they will self-deport.”

He said he believes the root of the border issue is intentionality.

“This is all a way for [the Democrats] to bring in more people because once you have more bodies, they get counted in the census, you get additional representation and potentially more voters,” claimed French.

“It is really important that we have a big turnout of Republicans,” said French, speaking about the upcoming general election. “I feel like we have a lot more Republicans who live here than Democrats, but the Democrats have done a better job in recent years of turning out their voters, so it has made a couple of our elections really close.”

“Tarrant County is on the cusp of going the wrong direction unless we in Tarrant County turn out our voters in November,” warned French.

French said he is encouraging Republicans to vote in his county by running the election like a campaign. Part of this entails targeting low-propensity Republican voters to get them back to the polls and knocking on doors to motivate people to vote.

He said he is encouraging people to “support the people who are most conservative — someone who will go in and fight for our values and principles. Up and down the ballot, this is who we need to be electing.”

“We hear every election cycle that this is the most important election of our lifetime, and this year is no different,” explained French. “So much is at stake. Just look around at the destruction of the family and the lack of morals.”

“We used to pride ourselves on what it meant to live in a civil society, and we have lost so much of that,” he said. While the left wants everyone to believe that it is this or that issue, according to French, the real issue “is looking at the fabric of our society and how it has deteriorated. Let’s look at the causes of that and put people in place who are going to fight for the things that we know are good, right, true, and beautiful.”
