The War Department’s artificial intelligence platform GenAI.mil has reached one million users in two months and will now integrate OpenAI’s ChatGPT.
The partnership will provide all 3 million department personnel with access to advanced language models to support mission execution and readiness. The rapid adoption signals a major shift in military operations as AI capabilities become standard tools for the joint force. The platform’s 100% uptime since launch has established it as the department’s trusted AI environment.
GenAI.mil now spans every military service branch.
Officials say the platform is “accelerating operational tempo and sharpening the decision superiority of its users.”
The department will continue comprehensive training to help personnel integrate AI into daily workflows. The expansion follows last month’s AI Acceleration Strategy and aligns with President Trump’s White House AI Action Plan.
“The War Department is building an AI ecosystem for speed, security, and enduring mission impact,” according to the announcement.
The ChatGPT integration marks another step toward making frontier AI capabilities standard for military operations. Officials describe GenAI.mil as the department’s “unified environment for secure, mission-ready AI capabilities.”
