The FBI has released new photos showing a masked suspect in the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie.
Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of “Today” show anchor Savannah Guthrie, has been missing from her home outside Tucson, Arizona, since February 1, as The Dallas Express reported. Now, the FBI has released new photos showing a masked suspect at her door.
“As of this morning, law enforcement has uncovered these previously inaccessible new images showing an armed individual appearing to have tampered with the camera at Nancy Guthrie’s front door the morning of her disappearance,” said FBI Director Kash Patel on February 10.

One video from the morning of Guthrie’s disappearance shows a masked suspect approaching her front door with a headlamp, handgun, and backpack – though in one photo, the handgun and backpack were nowhere to be seen. The suspect stepped onto the porch and turned away from the camera.
Next, videos show the suspect trying to cover the camera – first with a gloved hand, then with a brush. The individual seemed to be carrying something bright in their mouth.
Soon after the FBI released the footage, Savannah Guthrie posted on Instagram, pleading with the public for help. She said, “We believe she is still alive.”
“Someone out there recognizes this person. We believe she is still out there,” Guthrie posted. “Bring her home.”
The FBI and Pima County Sheriff’s Department have been working with private partners for eight days to recover images of video from Guthrie’s home that could have been lost, corrupted, or inaccessible for many reasons – including “the removal of recording devices,” according to Patel.
“The video was recovered from residual data located in backend systems,” he said.
Savannah Guthrie thanked members of the public on February 9 for outpouring “prayers and love” for her mother, as The Dallas Express reported at the time.
On February 7, the Guthrie family begged their mother’s likely captor for her release.
“We beg you now to return our mother to us, so that we can celebrate with her. This is the only way we will have peace,” she said. “We will pay.”
Ransom notes from Guthrie’s alleged abductors threatened her life, demanding $6 million by 5 p.m. February 9, as The Dallas Express reported. Earlier, on February 5, the FBI busted a suspect for sending a fake ransom note.
The FBI has offered a $50,000 reward for information on Guthrie’s disappearance. After law enforcement found DNA and blood inside her home, President Donald Trump directed the agency on February 5 to join the investigation.
