A vicious teenage mob attack on three off-duty marines was captured on film Memorial Day weekend and has since gone viral.

As described in a news release from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrived at San Clemente Pier shortly before 10 p.m. on May 26 after receiving reports of a group assault on three individuals.

The three Marines were treated for injuries at the scene by Orange County fire officers and refused hospitalization, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Speaking to KCAL News, one of the victims explained that he and the two fellow Marines stationed at nearby Camp Pendleton were heading toward San Clemente Pier that Friday evening when they encountered a large crowd.

The allegedly unruly behavior of the group of 30 to 40 teens and young people on the beach had already prompted local residents to call the authorities, KCAL News reported.

“They were lighting off fireworks, they were being belligerent, they were being obnoxious and annoying other people, and so we went up to them and told them to stop,” the serviceman told KCAL News.

Instead of settling down, the mob began following and harassing them.

In the footage apparently posted first on Nextdoor and then to Facebook in the San Clemente Life group, a teen can be seen striking one of the servicemen from behind. The Marine turns around and charges him.

The teens swarm him, swinging punches and a large fight quickly breaks out.

The video then shows two of the Marines being kicked and hit while huddled on the ground, one teen reaching down to take what appears to be a phone from one of the victims.

The violent attack subsided when two bystanders approached the mob with their hands raised, asking them to stop.

“This is considered an assault with a deadly weapon because of the amount of suspects we are investigating, the weapons they used were their feet while these victims were on the ground,” explained Sgt. Frank Gonzalez with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, according to KUSI News.

So far five juveniles — four male and one female — have been arrested in connection with the assault.

The investigation into the incident is still ongoing.

As The Dallas Express has covered, violent crime continues to plague the residents of Dallas while the Dallas Police Department grapples with an officer shortage.

As Dallas Police Chief Eddie Garcia told The Dallas Express, hundreds more patrolmen are needed on the streets, yet the recruiting and retention of new officers have proven difficult.

Most alarming of all, murders have seen a 23.4% year-over-year increase as of May 1, according to DPD data.
