A video posted by a woman in Ohio suggesting that her Stanley cup blocked a bullet may have created even greater hype for the wildly popular tumblers.

Going viral with over 3.5 million views since it was posted on February 12, a TikTok video showing a single bullet hole in a door, a hole in a spray bottle, and a dent in a white Stanley cup stands as a testament to what the user going by the name “Rachel” called “one of the scariest day[s] of [her] life.”

A stray bullet fired by someone outside the Steubenville home she shares with her fiancé entered through the door and struck her insulated mug, deflecting it away from her.

Several users had quips to add, with one commenting, “I’m convinced Stanley’s are immortal,” and another suggesting that the poster build her home out of Stanley cups.

Responding to doubters, Rachel posted a follow-up video in which she shows closer shots of the door and the spray bottle, along with the bullet lying on the floor and investigators documenting the scene.

The Stanley tumbler was a social media sensation even prior to this TikTok user’s claim and another earlier this year suggesting it kept the ice of a person’s drink frozen during a car fire.

As covered in The Dallas Express, despite the manufacturer having been around for decades, it saw a massive $676 million bump in revenue between 2019 and 2023. Claims that the sealing dot located on the bottom of the Stanely Quencher tumblers tested positive for high levels of lead have not seemed to dampen the brand’s popularity.

Stanley has acknowledged the use of lead in its products to make a seal that creates the vacuum insulation it is known for, per NBC 5 DFW. A stainless steel button or pellet prevents a person from being exposed to this lead material.

Since Stanley products come with a lifetime guarantee, consumers should stop using their mug if the bottom button falls off and contact the company for a replacement, as reported in The Dallas Express.
