Two teenagers are facing charges following the mass shooting that occurred Wednesday at the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl Parade, according to a police update.

The youths are now in custody and have been charged with gun-related crimes and resisting arrest in connection with the shooting that took the life of a mother of two and injured 22 people, half of whom are children under 16, per the Kansas City Star. Police say the shooting started after a dispute and was not related to terrorism or extremism.

“It is anticipated that additional charges are expected in the future as the investigation by the Kansas City Police Department continues,” the Office of the Juvenile Officer said in a statement, as reported by CNN. Investigators have not released the ages or names of the suspects.

Police initially detained a third person, who was later released after investigators determined the individual was not involved in the shooting. Several firearms were found at the scene, and police are still investigating the role other individuals may have played leading up to the violence.

One of the suspects was tackled by a parade-goer, Trey Filter, who described to Good Morning America how the situation unfolded.

“There was a lot of commotion; I could definitely tell that someone was being chased,” Filter said. “Couldn’t see much but heard ‘Get him,’ saw a flash next to me, and I remember I jumped and remember thinking, ‘I hope this is who they were talking about.'”

Filter said that he grabbed one of the suspects as he ran past and pulled the juvenile to the ground. Another man, Paul Contreras, helped Filter hold the juvenile down. Filter’s wife, Casey, took the gun away. The couple’s 12 and 15-year-old sons were standing next to them when the shooting started. Neither of the children was injured.

Lisa Lopez-Galvan was identified as the lone person killed. Lopez-Gavin was a DJ for KKFI, a local radio station.

“It is with sincere sadness and an extremely heavy and broken heart that we let our community know that KKFI DJ Lisa Lopez, host of Taste of Tejano, lost her life today in the shooting at the KC Chiefs’ rally,” a statement from KKFI read. “This senseless act has taken a beautiful person from her family and this KC Community.”

According to reporting from The Kansas City Star, Lopez-Gavin died on the grounds of Union Station after being shot. Of the 11 children injured, nine were admitted to hospitals with gunshot wounds. All but one have since been released, and all are expected to recover from their injuries.
