Many Republican state and national officials have vowed to support Texas’ defense of its border with Mexico amid the ongoing surge of unlawful migrants attempting to enter the United States.

Former President Donald Trump posted on his social media platform Truth Social on Thursday afternoon, expressing his support for Texas and claiming that President Joe Biden has “surrendered our Border, and is aiding and abetting a massive Invasion of millions of Illegal Migrants into the United States.”

“Instead of fighting to protect our Country from this onslaught, Biden is, unbelievably, fighting to tie the hands of Governor Abbott and the State of Texas, so that the Invasion continues unchecked,” wrote the former president. “In the face of this National Security, Public Safety, and Public Health Catastrophe, Texas has rightly invoked the Invasion Clause of the Constitution, and must be given full support to repel the Invasion.”

Similarly, former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley posted on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, and said that “the state of Texas has every right to defend itself and its borders.”

“It’s absolutely ridiculous that Joe Biden is trying to stop governors from doing everything they can to protect their citizens,” she wrote. “But it’s also nothing new; Biden was part of the administration that sued me when I passed one of the toughest anti-illegal immigration laws in the country as governor of South Carolina.”

These comments came after many Republican governors from other states vowed to support Texas as well, with some states offering resources to the Lone Star State, as previously reported by The Dallas Express.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott spoke with Tucker Carlson on Friday and said that National Guard troops from multiple states have been sent to Texas to help assist with border management.

“There have been about 10 so far that have sent National Guard or other law enforcement. They now are joined together with us. This is a fight for the future of America and they all know it. And so I believe that they will all be in on this effort,” said the governor.

While it is currently unclear what the federal government will do next, investigative journalist Laura Loomer claimed the Biden administration has threatened to pursue military action if the Texas National Guard is not removed from Eagle Pass by 12 p.m. CT on Friday.
