Secretary of War Pete Hegseth said on April 15 that President Donald J. Trump nominated 12 senior military officers for new leadership posts across the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps. The list includes moves to several high-level assignments in the Pentagon, the Indo-Pacific, and major command posts in Hawaii, Illinois, and Virginia.

Trump renominated Marine Corps Lt. Gen. Roger B. Turner Jr. to remain a lieutenant general and take command of U.S. Marine Corps Forces Pacific and Fleet Marine Force Pacific at Camp H. M. Smith, Hawaii. Turner now leads III Marine Expeditionary Force and Marine Forces Japan in Okinawa.

Trump also nominated Army Maj. Gen. Constantin E. Nicolet for promotion to lieutenant general and a new role as director of Warfighter Support in the Office of the Under Secretary of War for Intelligence and Security. Air Force Maj. Gen. Christopher J. Niemi is in line for lieutenant general and a new post as deputy chief of staff for Strategy, Design and Requirements at Air Force headquarters.

The Marine Corps accounts for four more of the three-star nominations. Trump picked Maj. Gen. Keith D. Reventlow to serve as director for Logistics, J-4, on the Joint Staff; Maj. Gen. George B. Rowell IV to become deputy commander of U.S. Indo-Pacific Command; Maj. Gen. Thomas B. Savage to lead Training and Education Command while serving as deputy commandant for Training and Education; and Maj. Gen. James B. Wellons to become deputy commandant for Programs and Resources.

Trump nominated Army Maj. Gen. Monte L. Rone for promotion to lieutenant general and command of First U.S. Army at Rock Island, Illinois.

At the one-star level, Trump nominated Marine Corps Col. Peter D. Houtz and Air Force Col. Deane E. Thomey for brigadier general. Houtz now serves in the Office of the Judge Advocate General at Washington Navy Yard, while Thomey serves as deputy director of Air National Guard Operations at Joint Base Andrews.

Hegseth separately announced two Navy nominations. Trump renominated Vice Adm. John F. Wade to remain a vice admiral and move into the job of senior military assistant to the Secretary of War. Trump also nominated Rear Adm. Douglas L. Williams for promotion to vice admiral and assignment as director for Strategic Systems Programs at Washington Navy Yard.

The Department of War posted the nominations in an official release on April 15. The Senate must confirm them before the officers can take their new assignments.
