President Donald Trump has appointed former Attorney General Pam Bondi to a White House advisory committee focused on artificial intelligence policy, according to reports on Tuesday.

Bondi will serve on the Presidential Council of Advisors on Science and Technology, known as PCAST, a panel chaired by former White House AI adviser David Sacks and White House science adviser Michael Kratsios.

The committee also includes several major technology executives, including Jensen Huang, Mark Zuckerberg, and Larry Ellison.

Bondi’s role will focus on coordinating efforts between the federal government and the technology leaders serving on the panel, per Axios. She will also take on a newly created advisory role related to national infrastructure.

Vice President JD Vance praised Bondi’s continued involvement with the administration:

“Pam has been an enormously valuable asset to the president’s team, and I’m thrilled for her and for all of us that she’s going to remain involved in confronting some of the most important issues the administration faces,” Vance said in a statement, Axios reported.

The announcement comes as Bondi undergoes treatment for thyroid cancer. Bondi told CNN she was diagnosed after leaving the Justice Department in April and recently underwent surgery.

Bondi said she is recovering and “doing well, though.”

Trump removed Bondi from her role as attorney general in early April. Todd Blanche is currently serving as acting attorney general.

When Bondi left the administration, Trump praised her service in a social media post:

“Pam Bondi is a Great American Patriot and a loyal friend, who faithfully served as my Attorney General over the past year,” Trump wrote. “Pam did a tremendous job overseeing a massive crackdown in Crime across our Country, with Murders plummeting to their lowest level since 1900.”

Before her dismissal, Trump had reportedly expressed frustration over what he viewed as Bondi’s failure to pursue cases against his political opponents more aggressively.

Bondi also faced criticism over her handling of files related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, an issue that created ongoing political pressure for the administration.

Bondi is scheduled to testify on Friday before the House Oversight Committee as part of its Epstein-related investigation.
