A mother of three and her boyfriend have several charges brought against them after the woman’s three children were found abandoned at their apartment with the corpse of another child.

The Dallas Express reported earlier this week that police were called to do a welfare check at an apartment in Harris County. When they arrived, they discovered three children living alone with no power or food, and the remains of a fourth sibling.

The children were ages 15, 10, and 7. The oldest informed the police that they had been living alone in the apartment for ‘an extended period’ without their mother and her boyfriend. A neighbor had helped them with food and charged a cell phone at one point.

The corpse of their 8-year-old sibling was discovered in the open of the apartment where the children were living. The oldest child informed police that their sibling had been dead for about a year. The children also shared that they were not currently attending school as they had not gone since May 2020.

The children’s mother, Gloria Y. Williams, has since been charged with felony injury to a child by omission, and tampering with evidence in regards to the human corpse. The mother’s boyfriend, Brian W. Coulter, was charged with murder. Both were charged on Tuesday and booked into the Harris County Jail. They are both being held without bond. Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez has shared that additional charges in the case could be issued against the couple.

An autopsy conducted by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences in Houston on the 8-year-old boy revealed he died from blunt force trauma, evidence of “homicidal violence,” per NBC DFW.

It is unclear how the children managed to stay in the apartment without anyone noticing for so long. The case is still being investigated. The three children have now been placed with the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services.
