Lara Trump, the daughter-in-law of President Donald Trump, has publicly dismissed speculation that White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt will step down from her role because of Leavitt’s announced pregnancy.
During a recent Fox News appearance, Lara Trump addressed rumors circulating after Leavitt, 28, revealed that she and her husband, Nicholas Riccio, are expecting their second child – a baby girl due in May 2026.
“Karoline Leavitt is a machine. She’s incredible. And she’s going nowhere,” Lara said. “I’ve seen stories of people saying who’s next in line. Nobody is next in line. It’s Karoline. She can do everything.”
Lara would go on to compliment Leavitt’s work ethic, reminding viewers that the Press Secretary continued her duties during the 2024 Trump campaign while previously pregnant with her first child, son Niko, born in July 2024.
Leavitt returned to work quickly after giving birth in 2024.
“We’re all going to be watching as Karoline Leavitt absolutely schools the fake news media while she’s probably eight and nine months pregnant,” Lara added, praising Leavitt’s ability to handle some of those more “adversarial” press briefings.
Leavitt, the youngest person ever to serve as White House Press Secretary, shared her pregnancy news on Instagram, describing it as “the greatest Christmas gift” while also expressing gratitude to President Donald Trump and Chief of Staff Susie Wiles for creating a “pro-family environment” in the administration.
“My husband and I are thrilled to grow our family and can’t wait to watch our son become a big brother. My heart is overflowing with gratitude to God for the blessing of motherhood, which I truly believe is the closest thing to Heaven on Earth,” Leavitt wrote.
A senior White House official confirmed to Fox News that Leavitt will remain in her position, which makes her the first pregnant press secretary in American history.
Leavitt responded to Lara Trump’s comments, sharing a clip of the interview on social media with the caption, “Thank you Lara! 🥰”
