Dallas is a top destination for travelers in two major American cities as people celebrate the holiday season, according to CheapOair.

Los Angeles and Phoenix residents are choosing Dallas for domestic travel, along with Atlanta, New York City, Houston, Denver, Seattle, Chicago, Las Vegas, Portland, and Minneapolis. But they are also big on international destinations this year, opting for Mexico City, San Salvador, Guadalajara, Manila, Guatemala City, and Ho Chi Minh City.

“Over 115 million people are expected to travel 50 miles or more during the 10-day holiday season,” according to figures from the AAA said a press release from CheapOair. “Of those, a record 6.5%, or 7.5 million people, will fly. Holiday season air travel this year is expected to exceed last year’s numbers, and forecasts of bad weather could also play a part in potentially disrupting travel plans. The FAA is preparing to keep flight travel on time, opening military airspace for moving north-south traffic on the East Coast.”

CheapOair examined its flight-booking data for the five largest American cities to identify the top destinations for holiday travel this year for residents of those cities. In addition to Phoenix and Los Angeles, data for New York City, Chicago, and Houston travelers was also analyzed.

In November, The Dallas Express reported that Dallas was a top destination for air travelers heading into the Thanksgiving stretch, coming in at No.6 in Allianz’s Top 10 Thanksgiving Destination Index this year, preceded by Atlanta at No.4 and Boston at No.5.

To compile the list, Allianz examined itineraries for roundtrip flights departing the U.S. between November 18 and 23 and those returning between November 24 and 28.
