Mike Pence’s lawyer has received a letter from the Department of Justice, saying it has closed an investigation into whether the former vice president mishandled classified documents, CNN and The Washington Post reported on Friday.

Pence found classified material at his Indiana home in January and reported it to the DOJ, as reported previously by The Dallas Express.

“The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Department’s National Security Division have conducted an investigation into the potential mishandling of classified information,” the Justice Department wrote to Pence’s attorney, according to CNN. “Based on the results of that investigation, no criminal charges will be sought.”

Pence is expected to announce his run for president next week, USA Today reported earlier this week. He will be challenging former President Donald Trump in the Republican primary.
