The Dallas Stars’ current three-game road trip that brought the team west hasn’t gone as well as the NHL hockey franchise likely had hoped.

The first swing game saw the Stars suffer a 5-4 loss to the Las Vegas Golden Knights, halting the team’s seven-game win streak. Last night, the Jonathan-Quick-led Los Angeles Kings blanked Dallas, the Stars going down in defeat 4-0 to cap back-to-back losses for the first time since mid-November.

But between the two games, when the team was prepping to travel from Las Vegas to Los Angeles on Wednesday night, a 34-year-old man allegedly drove a limo through fencing at McCarran International Airport, according to Las Vegas Metro Police.

The police reports state Mathew Hancock said he wanted to hijack a plane and travel to Area 51 after being apprehended. (Area 51 is an open training range for the U.S. Air Force and many conspiracy theorists claim it is where the government hides aliens.)

According to court documents, Hancock faces two felony counts of creating a false threat of terrorism and disseminating a “hoax drug” and one misdemeanor count of trespassing in connection with Wednesday’s incident.

Friday morning, it remained unclear what the “hoax material” was. Hancock was reportedly wearing a clown mask and told an airport employee he was had an explosive and was going to “blow the place up.”

The Stars were forced to stay the night in Las Vegas ahead of the Kings game and fly into town the morning of the Thursday night tilt and did not practice on the day.

Last night’s loss to the Kings was the first time the Stars were unable to tally a single goal this season.

The Stars (13-9-2, 28 points in the Western-Central Division) have today off as they prepare for Saturday night’s game against the San Jose Sharks (14-12-1, 29 points in the Western-Pacific), the first time the teams have faced off this year. Game time at the SAP Center is 9:30 p.m. Radio station KTCK 96.7-FM is broadcasting the game.
