The Department of War announced a new agreement to triple production of critical components for Patriot Advanced Capability-3 missiles.
The landmark framework deal with Boeing and Lockheed Martin, reported in a release dated April 1, 2026, targets seekers for the PAC-3 Missile Segment Enhancement. It supports President Trump and Secretary Hegseth’s plan to build the Arsenal of Freedom, speed delivery of capabilities to troops, and generate thousands of jobs in the defense sector.
The seven-year pact with Boeing, a key PAC-3 supplier, aligns with a recent Lockheed Martin contract to more than triple the output of full PAC-3 MSE missiles. Officials described it as part of the department’s Acquisition Transformation Strategy, which involves direct engagement with suppliers throughout the industrial base.
Such arrangements deliver long-term demand signals, enabling investments in facilities, equipment, and workers. Boeing produces the seeker, which supplies active data for missile guidance and precise intercepts, helping address supply bottlenecks and expand capacity to meet military needs.
“To build a true Arsenal of Freedom, we must strengthen every link in the chain,” said Michael Duffey, Under Secretary of War for Acquisition and Sustainment. “This agreement with Boeing is a direct reflection that speed, volume, and a resilient supply chain are paramount. We are moving beyond the old model and forging direct partnerships with critical suppliers to ensure the entire defense industrial base is postured to expand production and deliver the decisive capabilities our warfighters need at speed and scale.”
The effort forms part of a push to shift acquisition to a wartime footing, emphasizing speed, flexibility, and collaboration to counter adversaries.
