The Texas franchise concept Twin Peaks is opening a sports bar in McKinney later this year, according to a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation filing.

Renovations of a Walk-On’s Sports Bistreaux shell building on University Drive are scheduled to begin in April. The project includes a 1,296-square-foot addition to the dining area. The total square feet of the restaurant at completion will be more than 8,600 square feet.

Founded in Lewisville in 2005, Twin Peaks operates more than 100 restaurants around the country, including 11 in Fort Worth, Plano, Frisco, Grand Prairie, Lewisville, Irving, Fossil Creek, Addison, Mesquite, and Burleson. Its headquarters is in Addison.

Calling itself the No.1 sports bar, the brand is known for its “Twin Peaks Girls” and signature beers. On the menu are burgers, a variety of sandwiches, tacos, wings, soups, and salads, as well as a number of sides and desserts.

The McKinney location is being built at a projected construction cost of nearly $1.8 million. DP3 Architects is listed as the design firm on the filing. The company’s portfolio includes other Twin Peaks locations, as well as projects in South Carolina.

“For the past 5 years DP3 Architects has had the privilege of partnering with Twin Peaks to design and develop new restaurants and redesigns,” its website reads. “These projects include upgraded and expanded indoor and outdoor bars, enhanced A/V packages, fun elements like outdoor fire pits, and more. This restaurant is designed to be the ultimate sportsman’s lodge and the go-to destination for the best gameday experience.

“The goal of each space is to leverage the local sports lodge feel and engage the community by providing the best local craft beer selections and scratch-made menu options.”

Based in Baton Rouge, Walk-On’s Sports Bistreaux has locations in Arlington and The Colony, according to its website.
