Stonebriar Centre in Frisco will begin enforcing a new policy this weekend requiring visitors under 18 to be accompanied by an adult after 3 p.m. on Saturdays.

Under the mall’s new Parental Guidance Required (PGR) program, guests ages 17 and younger must remain with a parent or supervising adult who is at least 21 years old, beginning Saturday, May 9.

Mall management said the measure is intended to address disruptive gatherings involving unsupervised teenagers and help maintain a safe environment for shoppers, employees, and tenants.

“PGR is intended to help provide a safe, peaceful experience at our shopping center for all guests,” the mall spokesperson told Local Profile. “PGR was not something we’ve entered lightly, and it is our hope that it will only be temporary.”

Public safety officers will be positioned at mall entrances to check identification from visitors who appear to be minors. Guests under 18 who are unable to provide identification or who are not accompanied by a supervising adult will be asked to leave.

According to the policy, one adult may supervise up to four minors aged 11 to 17 and must stay with them throughout their visit. This limitation does not apply to children aged 10 and younger.

Mall officials said the center’s code of conduct prohibits activities that threaten safety, damage property, or disrupt the shopping environment. Firearms and illegal weapons are also banned from the property.

“We request that all guests and employees respect our Code of Conduct so that we can maintain a safe, peaceful environment for the entire community,” the mall spokesperson said, per WFAA.

The policy applies only on Saturdays after 3 p.m., though management noted the rules and enforcement schedule could change. Guests who refuse to comply with mall policies may be removed from the property and could face criminal trespassing charges if they fail to leave when directed.

Stonebriar Centre described the policy as a temporary precaution implemented out of concern for public safety and the overall shopping experience.
