Police in Richardson shot and killed a man Wednesday night after authorities said he attacked four people with a knife inside a restaurant.

Officers responded around 10 p.m. to the 2100 block of West Buckingham Road following reports of a man threatening people with a knife, according to the Richardson Police Department.

When officers arrived, they encountered the suspect standing outside the entrance of Good Vibes Bar & Grill, armed with a knife. Police said officers were told there were injured victims inside the restaurant and repeatedly ordered the suspect to drop the weapon.

Authorities said the man refused to comply, and two officers fired their weapons, striking him.

Additional officers entered the restaurant and began providing medical aid to the victims until paramedics arrived. Four people injured in the stabbing were transported to hospitals for treatment. Officials have not released information about the extent of their injuries.

The suspect was also taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

In a social media post, Good Vibes Bar & Grill said the incident had deeply affected staff members.

“This was extremely unnecessary and I pray for resilience, healing and steadfast love for all involved,” the restaurant wrote. “We are strong and we will persevere!”

The bar will be closed on Thursday and will reopen on Friday, according to the social media post.

Police said there is no ongoing threat to the public. The stabbing and officer-involved shooting remain under investigation.
