International telecommunications firm NTT Data is expanding its footprint in North Texas with a massive new data center.

A filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation shows that the new site will be located on the south side of Lookout Drive, just east of Telecom Parkway. Construction on the estimated $42 million project is expected to start in September, with a target completion date of April 2026.

The new NTT facility will cover almost 236,000 square feet and be located within the company’s existing Garland campus. Corgan Associates out of Dallas is the design firm listed on the filing.

Last month, The Dallas Express reported on another of Corgan’s projects, an 841,000-square-foot climate-controlled warehouse and office space in Fort Worth slated to be completed by 2027. The firm has also been revealed as the designer behind at least two other data centers in Dallas-Fort Worth in recent months, both owned by QTS Realty Trust.

In all, Corgan has worked on more than 275 data center projects in DFW and over 475 in Texas.

News of the latest project comes in the wake of the proliferation of data centers in North Texas, including the two from QTS Realty.

Dallas-based Compass Datacenters is adding two more data centers to its Red Oak campus, each over 250,000 square feet in size.

An even larger 450,000-square-foot facility is being constructed by Aligned Data Centers. The building will be located in East Plano and will be the company’s third center in the area.

Google is also planning to expand its presence in North Texas. The tech giant intends to build a $600 million data center in Red Oak, which will occupy 285,000 square feet once complete.
