A new five-story public parking garage has opened in downtown Frisco, offering 450 free parking spaces near the city’s Rail District.
The structure sits at the northeast corner of Elm and 3rd streets, with vehicle entrances available from both roadways, the city announced on Thursday.
Four electric vehicle charging stations are located on the first floor. Drivers can reach the ground level using stairs or the elevator at the southeast corner of the garage. The northwest elevator is scheduled to open at a later date.
Security cameras and emergency call stations have been installed throughout the facility, according to the city.
The ground floor includes six retail tenant spaces that the city said will be filled by businesses in the future.
The garage carried a price tag of $27 million. Funding came from $20 million in bonds approved by voters in 2023, along with a $7 million infrastructure grant from the Frisco Economic Development Corporation.
The project is part of a broader downtown redevelopment effort, which the city said represents nearly $80 million in total reinvestment in the Rail District.
