McDonald’s has begun construction of another one of its pilot locations in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, according to a state filing.

The company’s beverage concept, CosMc’s, is scheduled to open in June on Newman Avenue in Allen — just before it is expected to deliver the Fort Worth store on McPherson Boulevard, The Dallas Express has reported. At 1,275 square feet apiece, the Allen and Fort Worth locations bear estimated construction costs of $921,000.

CosMc’s has a menu that includes dozens of iced teas and lemonades, slushes and frappes, and coffee brews. But unlike McDonald’s, it offers no burgers and fries. Customers can instead choose from several breakfast sandwiches, snack bites, cookies and brownies, a few flavors of soft-serve, and the usual array of sodas.

In December 2023, according to The Dallas Morning News, CosMc’s opened its first store in Illinois. The company plans to open 10 pilot locations by the end of this year in North Texas.

This is not the first time that McDonald’s has opened trial concepts in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

The Dallas Express reported last month that the company planned to open its second “On-The-Go” concept in Fort Worth. That project is a 1,927-square-foot drive-thru and pick-up operation scheduled to open at the end of August, marking the second time in just over a year that McDonald’s has chosen North Texas for a test site for its “On-The-Go” stores.

Those locations cater to mobile-app customers who collect their orders through drive-thrus or from conveyor belts inside restaurants where no dine-in space is available.

McDonald’s announced in December that it plans to open its 50,000th location by 2027.
