Waxahachie police have issued an Amber Alert following the disappearance of Tanya Jackson.

Nicknamed Tay Tay, the 12-year-old girl from Waxahachie was last seen on the morning of February 14 at 10 a.m. on Brenna Road, west of Highway 287, close to Oliver Clift Elementary School, according to local police. The official X account for Texas Alerts —  part of the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) — says the statewide Amber Alert was activated on Thursday.

The latest incident follows an Amber Alert issued for Jackson in July 2023. At the time the alert was activated on July 14, the young girl had been considered a runaway for roughly a month. Jackson was located the following day, according to DPS.

In a statement to CBS News Texas, Waxahachie police said they were “deeply troubled” regarding the girl’s safety and well-being.

“After investigating leads from cell phone calls, messages, and social media accounts from across the country and throughout the night, we have exhausted all possible leads. Our investigation has led us to believe that Tanya’s well-being is at serious risk,” the statement continued.

Individuals from both Homeland Security Investigations and the North Texas Trafficking Task Force have joined in the search for the missing child.

“The North Texas Trafficking Task Force is a proactive investigative team with tremendous resources available. Because of their capabilities and expertise in locating missing individuals, we were happy to utilize their assistance,” Waxahachie police told CBS when asked to explain the involvement of the organizations.

Jackson is a black female with brown eyes and black hair. She stands 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs roughly 170 pounds.

Anyone with information about her whereabouts is urged to call Waxahachie police at 469-309-4400.
