Another early morning accident involving an 18-wheeler impacted commutes for North Texans early this morning.

The Grapevine Police Department issued a traffic alert in the early morning hours after an 18-wheeler overturned on the curve from SH-114 to eastbound I-635. A photo of the wreck posted by the department shows the vehicle on its side, blocking portions of the freeway with the mangled remains of a metal guardrail nearby.

Motorists were advised to take alternate routes as emergency personnel assessed the situation. Officials said the road would be shut down for “several hours.”

Police confirmed that the driver of the 18-wheeler had emerged from the crash with only “minor injuries.” The vehicle appeared to be the only one involved in the accident.

The cause of why the vehicle was overturned, its contents, and the identity of the driver were not made public as of press time, however, police urged motorists to drive slowly when wet conditions are present.

The incident occurred within just days of another accident involving an 18-wheeler in the nearby city of Lewisville. The Lewisville Fire Department battled a massive blaze atop a crashed 18-wheeler carrying home goods in the early morning hours of December 20 after it had crashed, rupturing its fuel tank, as previously reported by The Dallas Express.

Similar to the most recent accident, the driver of the vehicle was able to escape with his life.
