Southwest Airlines and Omni Hotels & Resorts are partnering to offer free air travel and accommodation to experience the elusive 2024 total solar eclipse on April 8.

Earlier this month, The Dallas Express reported that Delta Air Lines and Southwest Airlines are running several flights that will line up with the path of totality, providing curious travelers with one of the best views of the total eclipse. Now, Southwest and Omni are offering free flights and hotel stays to two lucky winners and their guests as part of their “Solarbration” campaign.

Winners and a companion of their choice will join one of Southwest’s path of totality flights and be given accommodation in an “eclipse-themed room” in both the departure and arrival city, according to the contests’ website.

Two separate flights are included in the contest:

  • Southwest Flight #1252: Departs Dallas at 12:40 p.m. CDT for Pittsburgh
  • Southwest Flight #1721: Departs Austin at 12:55 p.m. CDT for Indianapolis

“The whole world will be looking up on April 8, and we’re over the moon to leverage our place in the sky by extending an opportunity to observe this phenomenon on several Southwest flights in the path of the eclipse. … Connecting People to places and experiences is what we do best and rounding out this once-in-a-lifetime flight opportunity with a celestial stay at Omni Hotels aligns the stars for two lucky winners,” said Julia Melle, Director of Brand and Content for Southwest Airlines.

When Melle calls the opportunity “one-in-a-lifetime,” she’s referring to the rarity of the event. In fact, after the April event, NASA does not expect another total solar eclipse visible from the United States for over two decades.

For your chance to win, visit eclipsesweepstakes.com and enter the contest before the March 11 cutoff.
