Oscar Mayer announced it is looking to fill 12 full-time positions driving its iconic hot dog vehicle across the United States beginning this summer.

If earning a living driving around a giant hot dog sounds appealing, you might consider applying for the competitive 12-month Wienermobile Spokesperson job.

According to the job posting, a successful “Hotdogger” is independent and well-versed in social media. They are also positive, trustworthy, and flexible. During the contract, a driver will act as “the face of a multi-billion dollar brand.”

The position comes with a base salary of $35,600 plus a weekly allowance of $150 for food and travel costs. Successful candidates will also get 18 paid days off and full health benefits.

Of those that apply, typically less than 1% end up being hired, according to CNN.

“The title of a Hotdogger is a rare and coveted position unique to those seeking adventure and a once-in-a-lifetime experience,” Ed Roland, Sr. Manager Brand Communications for Oscar Mayer, said in a statement. “Statistically speaking, more people have visited space than driven the Wienermobile!”

Drivers will travel to a minimum of 40 U.S. cities during the year, averaging roughly 20,000 miles. Along with driving the vehicle, “Hotdoggers” are responsible for promoting the company and producing social media content for Oscar Mayer.

June 2024 marks the start of the 37th class of “Hotdoggers.” While the company’s Wienermobile has existed since 1936, the current program did not emerge until 1988.
