DFW Restaurant Week is underway as several chefs across the metroplex curate menus in honor of local charities.

The Rustic is part of the annual culinary event from August 8 through September 4. Guests can indulge in a three-course menu for $39 per person featuring elevated American cuisine.

The carefully selected appetizers, entrees, and desserts are available at dinner. The first course consists of a choice between double queso, chorizo empanadas, and cracklin’ deviled eggs.

For the second course, guests can choose between four entreés: The Rustic Burger, made with number nine sauce, house-smoked brisket, white cheddar, green chile, and grilled onion with smoked salt potato chips; The Drunk Chick, a beer can game hen, served with jalapeño spoon bread and ancho-lime butter; wood-grilled salmon Caesar salad; and the mushroom chop with roasted garlic and chimichurri.

Guests will have three dessert options for their third course: mixed berry trifle made with vanilla cake, macerated berries, and topped with whip cream; peach cobbler with whipped cheesecake, brown sugar peaches, and rosemary oatmeal crumble; and last but not least, key lime pie, a chilled lime custard atop a graham cracker crust and finished with whipped cream.

Now in its 25th year, DFW Restaurant Week is raising money for metroplex charities: 20% of each meal is donated to a North Texas charity, with nearly $11 million in the last 25 years.

Audacy, the nonprofit that The Rustic has chosen to give its donations to, along with its partner organizations, will receive $8 from every meal ordered at the restaurant during restaurant week.

Initially started by a local broadcaster, food and wine lover Jim White, this year is especially memorable as White passed away in June.

DFW Restaurant Week is more than a week; it is actually a month. Participating restaurants can pick which meal they want to feature — lunch, dinner, or brunch — and include their most popular dishes.

The Rustic is located at 3656 Howell Street in Dallas.
