The Eagles Return to DFW After 42 Years

The Eagles are coming to Fort Worth for the first time in 42 years.

The “Hotel California” Tour will feature Don Henley, Joe Walsh, Timothy B. Schmit, and Vince Gill, performing the entire 1976 album, Hotel California, at Dickies Arena on November 25.

The Eagles played two nights in Dallas at the American Airlines Center last September and at AT&T Stadium in Arlington in June 2018. The last time The Eagles played Fort Worth was a two-night stint on February 7 and 8, 1980, during the band’s “The Long Run” tour.

The band didn’t tour between 1981 and 1993. The COVID-19 epidemic forced the cancellation of the remainder of the Hotel California Tour after just eleven gigs in early 2020. In 2021, the tour resumed with August through November dates in North America.

The Eagles’ Hotel California sold over 32 million copies and was topped by their greatest hits album with songs from 1971-1975. Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” album is the only other album to outdo them.

The current Hotel California tour has sold out 40 shows and has kept the band on the road since 2019. The Eagles have performed for five nights in the past three years at the famed Madison Square Garden in New York City, four nights at American Airlines Arena in Dallas, and three concerts at the Forum in Los Angeles.

One member who will be missing from the Fort Worth concert is Deacon Frey, whose departure was announced on the group’s Facebook page back in April. Frey left to pursue his solo career.

To add to The Eagles experience, the band will perform “Hotel California” accompanied by a 46-piece orchestra and a 22-voice choir during their Fort Worth performance.

Tickets will be available on Friday (August 12) at 10 a.m. through Ticketmaster, with a small number of VIP packages available that include parking, exclusive access, and first-rate seats.

I actually heard the Eagles play in Dallas on July of 1971. They were the opening band for Jethro Tull. The differences between the two bands were like oil and water and the audience quite frankly didn’t recieve them very well, even to the point of boos and catcalls. The irony was a few months earlier I heard them play in my hometown of Austin, as the backup band for Linda Ronstadt. When she introduced the band she was quite complementary of them, remarking that they weren’t going to probably be with her much longer and were going to be very famous on their own.

The Eagles played at the first event at the new American Airlines Center is Dallas in July 28 2001. You didn’t mention this in your article. It’s somewhat misleading seeing DFW stands for Dallas Fort Worth. To say they haven’t been here in 40 years is just wrong.

What a sensationalized headline. DFW = DALLAS-Fort Worth.

Um they were at AAC in downtown Dallas 2/28/20, because I was there. Such a stupid unnecessary story.

“The Eagles return to DFW after 42 years”. Wrong! They have been to Dallas three times in the last 42 years.

Joe Walsh is reuniting with The James Gang for a concert in Ohio in November. I’m kind of meh on the old fogie shows but I would definitely put forth the effort if they ever rolled into town.

Why do they all wear the heroin addict hiding their eyes sunglasses?

And somebody probably knows, who is missing from the original group? I always liked them but never bought anything from them.

Isn’t Don Henley from Dallas? Thought he lived here, at least for a little while!

Don Henley is from Gilmer in East Texas. He has supported environmental causes around Caddo Lake for years.

More Clickbait. Amy Jones is one reason nobody trusts the media. A tribute to your profession. Maybe you should have said, “FW”
