A couple’s wedding almost did not happen after the pastor failed to show up for the ceremony; luckily, the caterer was there to save the day.

Jube Joubert of Jube’s Smokehouse not only served the barbeque at the wedding, but he served as the officiant for the couple.

“We were ready to get married,” groom Luis Garcia told NBCDFW. “I had already gotten ready,” bride Sarah Garcia said. “My dress was on.”

The couple waited until they could no longer wait, and the bride’s mother asked Joubert what she thought was a far-out question.

“You wouldn’t happen to be an ordained minister?” Joubert quoted her as saying. “I just thought that was funny. I go, ‘Fact about it, I am.'”

“I busted out crying,” Sarah Garcia said after hearing the news.

“I was like, ‘Have no fear, the preacher is here!'” Joubert said.

Joubert wanted to rush home to change into his suit, but the couple did not want to wait any longer. He cleaned up a bit and then got on with the wedding.

“Ten minutes later, they were smooching!” Joubert added.

“It’s really crazy,” Sarah Garcia said. “I don’t believe this was an accident. I believe this was supposed to happen.”

The high school sweethearts attended Northside High School and played trumpet in the band. After two years of dating, the Garcias tied the knot thanks to their caterer.

“After that, we just had great food. It was amazing,” Luis Garcia said.
