The Bath House Cultural Center presents the second annual Virtual Art Mart from December 5 through December 23.

A press release announced that “the virtual Art Mart is another tool that the Art Mart organizers are using to support and promote the artists from our community.”

North Texas artists will be showcased during the online event. Visitors will be able to read information about the visual artists, view pictures of the artwork, and click links to visit the artists’ websites to purchase the artwork.

The artwork showcased can include jewelry, glass, mosaics, pottery, ceramics, photography, sculptures, paintings, and mixed media art.

The money earned from the Virtual Art Mart will go to the participating artists and a non-profit organization “that supports year-round visual and performing arts programs at the center,” called Friends of the Bath House Cultural Center.

Art Mart was established in 2003 and, since then, has provided an outlet for local artists to showcase their work. They have also promoted the creations of regional artists.

The press release mentions that artists residents of North Texas can go to this website to participate in this year’s Virtual Art Mart.

The Bath House Cultural Center website states that this is the second year they have presented the Virtual Art Mart.

The deadline to show interest in submitting art is on November 14 by sending an email to [email protected]. The second step required to become a participating artist is to present the artwork online by November 21.

There is also an in-person Art Mart being held at the Bath House Cultural Center, located at 521 East Lawther Drive in Dallas. This in-person event is from November 19 through November 21. The artwork submission for this event is now closed for local artists.

According to the Bath House Cultural Center’s website, they are “dedicated to fostering the growth, development, and quality of multicultural visual and performing arts in Dallas.”

They sponsor many events, and from November 14 through November 16, they will be presenting a staged reading at the Fretz Park Branch Library, located at 6990 Belt Line Road in Dallas.

Bath House is teaming up with One Thirty Productions and the Dallas Public Library to present the staged reading of the novel Into the Beautiful North, written by Luis Alberta Urrea. The reading will be held on November 14 and 15 at 1:30 pm and on November 16 at 4:00 pm.

Into the Beautiful North is a “magical, shimmering, refreshing, spirited, very funny, and thoroughly enjoyable” novel that “introduced nineteen-year-old Nayeli who works at a taco stand in a remote Mexican village. Her life changes when she sees the film, The Magnificent Seven, and goes to the U.S. to find men to fight the Bandidos in her village,” the Bath House Cultural Center explains.
