The Texas Lottery Commission announced on Thursday that a convenience store in Dallas sold the winning Lotto Texas jackpot ticket worth an estimated annuitized $17 million.

The lucky customer purchased the ticket at the 7-Eleven located at 7650 Campbell Rd., matching the winning numbers 10-14-17-31-38-48 in the July 16 drawing. The ticket holder selected the cash value option at the time of purchase and will receive $9,784,117.86 before taxes.

Lottery winnings greater than $5,000 are subject to a 24% tax withholding rate, according to the Texas Lottery. The winner will have 180 days to claim the money.

“We look forward to meeting and congratulating the fourth Lotto Texas jackpot winner of 2023,” said Texas Lottery Executive Director Gary Grief in a press release. “If you have the winning ticket, we encourage you to sign the ticket, put it in a safe place, seek financial and legal advice, and call the Texas Lottery to schedule an appointment to claim the prize.”

Wednesday’s drawing also yielded 49,789 other non-jackpot winners, who won prizes ranging from $2 to $11,040.

The Texas Lottery is a statewide lottery system with drawings held every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 10:12 p.m. The next lottery drawing, scheduled for August 19, has an annuitized $5 million jackpot.

Last month, a winning ticket for a Lotto Texas jackpot of $8 million was sold at a Tiger Mart in Weatherford, as previously reported by The Dallas Express.

The Texas Lottery Commission sold its first ticket in May 1992, following the passage of the Texas Lottery Act in 1991, according to the North American Association of State and Provincial Lotteries.

Since its foundation, the Texas Lottery Commission has generated $37.5 billion in revenue for the state of Texas and issued $82 billion in prizes to players. Since 1997, the organization has contributed $31.6 billion to the Foundation School Fund, reads the press release.

The odds of hitting the jackpot are estimated to be one in 25,827,165.
