Summer may be over, but patrons can still enjoy the laid-back summer vibe for a while longer with a visit to Dallas’ newest rooftop bar, Surf Camp.
Located at 2130 Commerce St., on the third floor of Dallas’ historic East Quarter building, Surf Camp will make its debut on Thursday. The first iteration of the restaurant and bar will feature tropical decor and a “beachy” atmosphere, along with California-style eats, before switching to a new themed concept in about six months.
The “Pop Top” concept is the creation of prolific restaurateur and chef Nick Badovinus.
In a statement to The Dallas Morning News, Badovinus called the six-month change-ups “pop-up ideas” that would last “throughout the lifespan of the business.”
“I’d like to think of it as a permanent, revolving art installation,” he said in a separate conversation with the publication.
According to Badovinus, this approach will help ensure that the bar is continuously evolving and providing patrons with unique, ever-changing experiences.
As for the menu, Surf Camp will serve a variety of shareable snacks and flavorful cocktails that reflect the laid-back nature of the bar.
Surf Camp is expected to appeal to food and drink enthusiasts alike with light bites like ceviche, seared tuna, spicy guacamole, taquitos, coconut shrimp, and sushi alongside a cocktail selection that is equally tantalizing. To complement its more eclectic food items, Surf Camp will offer classic cocktails like mojitos, Mai Tais, margaritas, and more.
The triangular-shaped East Quarter building also houses two other restaurants created by Chef Badovinus: the National Anthem and the Brass Ram.
Surf Camp will be open for business on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings. The bar may seem like a small, cozy space from the outside, but inside, the bar is a sprawling space that can hold up to 125 people.
The Dallas Express reached out to Badovinus to learn more about Surf Camp before its grand opening on Thursday but had not heard back by the time of publishing.
