Brooklyn Dumpling Shop, a popular New York-based eatery, is now serving up traditional and specialty dumplings to Dallas customers from its first-ever Texas location.

Brooklyn Dumpling Shop opened its doors at 2548 Elm St. in Deep Ellum on May 15, according to Culture Map Dallas.

Sam Cole is the franchisee behind the Deep Ellum location, as well as a few others still in the works for the Dallas-Fort Worth region.

Cole issued a statement back in 2021 expressing excitement over “sharing Brooklyn Dumpling Shop’s unique foods and flavors delivered in an efficient and innovative way,” according to Franchising.com.

The tech at Brooklyn Dumpling Shop establishments is impressive.

Customers can order high-quality dumplings at any time of day, either online or using the store’s kiosk, according to the Dallas Observer. They scan their bar code and food lockers dispensing either hot or cold orders will just pop open.

Alongside classic dumpling flavors pairing pork and cabbage, re-imagined takes on classic diner fare are also on offer at Brooklyn Dumpling Shop.

Seared or deep-fried dumplings filled with mac and cheese, chicken parm, pepperoni pizza, steak and cheese, Korean BBQ, Reuben, and buffalo chicken can be found on the chain’s specialty dumpling menu.

There are even dessert dumpling sundaes topped with dark chocolate or apple cinnamon jam.

Customers can order a mix of dumplings flavors per order, with each order consisting of four dumplings priced between $6 to $10.

Brooklyn Dumpling Shop was created by Stratis Morfogen, a seasoned third-generation NYC restaurateur, according to Dallas Culture Map. Noticing how popular dumplings were at his full-service Asian-inspired steakhouse called Brooklyn Chop House, Morfogen and his partners founded a quick-service spinoff focused on dumplings.

As for the inspiration behind the specialty dumplings, Brooklyn Dumpling Shop’s website states that it came from the simple idea “that classic diner staples and sandwiches are more fun as dumplings.”

Dallas residents might have a high bar when it comes to diner fare, with a recent nationwide ranking placing the city third among the top diner destinations, as The Dallas Express reported.

Of course, each Brooklyn Dumpling Shop location comes with more than just dumplings on offer.

The eatery also serves “chop chop” bowls, according to its website. Customers can choose from a range of base options such as white rice, lo mein noodles, or mixed greens, select a protein, and then add a sauce of their choice. Sauces include kung pao, sweet and sour, buffalo, famous peanut sauce, and teriyaki.

Brooklyn Dumpling Shop also offers sides ranging from steamed edamame to waffle fries.

The Deep Ellum location features 14 hot and four cold lockers, as well as a pick-up window, according to Culture Map Dallas. Customers that prefer to dine in have 34 seats to choose from.
