The cozy, unassuming diner is a staple of American cuisine and culture. But if you’re a foodie searching for the ultimate diner experience, look no further than Dallas.

According to a recent poll of 3,000 travelers by RestaurantClicks.com, a website specializing in restaurant tips, Dallas ranks high among the top diner destinations across the United States.

The city placed third, with New York and Honolulu taking first and second place, respectively.

The classic American diner began in the early 20th century as an alternative to a home-cooked meal, per Paste Magazine. As such, its offerings were simple but familiar food items like sandwiches or eggs.

By offering inexpensive fare often at all times of the day, the modest diner also became a place for people to socialize during their lunch hour or after a late shift at work.

The diner became an icon in American popular culture. Nowadays, it offers travelers a new, yet familiar, experience that is often deeply connected to the city in which it is located.

As for Dallas, the poll by RestaurantClicks.com found that its diners had two large pulls.

First, Dallas’ diners offer a diverse range of dining options from around the world.

Next, the diners of Dallas tend to have a loyal customer base within the local community.

With regulars that have been visiting the same joints for decades, this instantly creates a sense of familiarity and comfort that diners are renowned for.

According to Yelp, the best diners in Dallas are as follows.
