Making ‘Little Wishes’ Come True

Peggy Hatton has been in a fight against brain cancer for 22 years.

She nominated herself for WFAA’s Little Wishes program wherein WFAA, in partnership with Sam Pack Auto Group, seeks to help those in the North Texas area who are in need. They announce new winners monthly and prizes range from a minimum of $500 to a maximum of $6,000.

Hatton stated, “I’ve been in this battle a long time — years and years and years. I’m still hanging in there. I’m a soldier still doing God’s work. He hasn’t finished with me yet.”

Hatton was in remission until recently when her cancer came back and spread.

However, she is confident in her body’s resilience, “I’m not young like I used to be. But I know I will bounce back up. I fell, but I’ll get back up.”
Usually, friends or family members will nominate loved ones in the Little Wishes Program, but Hatton stated, “I had to nominate myself because it’s myself. And I know what I’ve gone through.”
Hatton’s little wish was that she could book a hotel for the weekend of her 64th birthday, but Sam Pack Auto Group decided to go above and beyond by giving her a $4,000 gift card.

Hatton was stunned by the company’s generosity. “Oh hallelujah, Jesus. Thank you, lord…Sometimes you think about what all you went through — that you deserve this, deserve to have some type of peace. And I can say I deserve to have some type of peace in my life.”
Her plans for the money are to start with buying necessities like vitamins and gas to go back and forth to get treatment. She will also use the gift card to get repairs on her car, and hopefully, granting that there is money remaining, she will take a much-needed vacation.
