Another North Texan has just become a millionaire.

The Texas Lottery announced that a McKinney resident recently claimed a Lotto Texas jackpot of an estimated $17 million from a drawing on August 16.

The individual purchased the winning ticket from a 7-Eleven convenience store located at 7650 Campbell Rd. in Dallas. The lucky numbers were 10-14-17-31-38-48, as previously reported by The Dallas Express.

Having already selected the cash value option upon purchasing the ticket, the winner received a total of $9,784,117.86, according to a news release. This does not include taxes, with lottery winnings subject to a 24% tax withholding rate in Texas.

Although the claimant chose to remain anonymous, they told the Texas Lottery they were “overwhelmed and nervous” when they learned they had won. It was the first time they had ever claimed a lottery prize.

Given that Americans across the country have only a 1 in 292.2 million chance of winning any given lottery, it is not surprising the winner was taken aback by finding themselves in such a fortunate position.

The winnings will reportedly go towards the purchase of a new home and the winner’s retirement, according to the news release.

The August 16 drawing yielded a total of 13,024 winners across the state of Texas, with reward amounts ranging from $3 to the $17 million jackpot.

A total of 12,379 tickets were claimed for a prize of $3, while 20 winners received a prize of $1,040 each.

There have been some big-ticket winners in North Texas this year. For instance, a Dallas resident purchased a Mega Millions ticket in July, winning just over $1 million, as covered by The Dallas Express.

The Mega Millions drawing for a jackpot of $122 million will occur on September 8.

Texas Lottery drawings are held every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 10:12 p.m.

Some other upcoming drawings to keep an eye out for include Powerball, with an estimated jackpot of $500 million, which will take place on September 9. Texas Lottery Extra, which has an estimated jackpot of $5.75 million, will also hold a drawing that same day.
