The Highland Dallas Foundation was formed in 2011 to serve charitable, educational, and scientific purposes. The Highland Dallas Foundation is the supporting organization of The Dallas Foundation, Texas’ first community foundation.

Working in education, support for the military, veterans, first responders, and health and medical research, the Highland Dallas Foundation has since made tens of millions of dollars available to charitable causes.

This year, the Highland Dallas Foundation contributed their most significant grant to The Dallas Foundation’s recently launched Racial Equity Fund. With the award, the Racial Equity Fund has surpassed $1 million in launch donations.

The new Racial Equity Fund intends to leverage the Dallas Foundation’s resources, combined with those of its donors and partners, to advance equity for minorities in Dallas. The goal is to strategically direct philanthropic funds to support organizations that address these systemic inequities, particularly in housing, economy, education, criminal justice, and health.

The Foundation is also providing $1 million to The Family Place, a not-for-profit organization that helps the victims of domestic violence empower themselves by providing safe housing.

The grant is the second $1 million award from the Highland Dallas Foundation to The Family Place as of 2015. This donation will help the organization and people in need by providing counseling and access to skills that build independence while strengthening community engagement and promoting a social impact to end domestic violence.

In addition, the Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center (DCAC) is receiving a $1 million grant to help bring hope to more than 8,000 children and family members each year. The Highland Dallas Foundation is a long-standing DCAC backer and has been a significant fundraising sponsor of annual events, utilizing its philanthropic network to promote DCAC’s mission.

The grant funding also helps close gaps in state funding sources and provides continuity for DCAC’s essential mission.
