As fall starts in the Lone Star State, plenty of haunted houses have begun to open their doors in North Texas.

The top five haunted houses that North Texas families can enjoy this year, according to Local Profile, are Dark Hour, Hangman’s House of Horrors, The Parker House, Frights’n Lights, and House of Spirits.

Dark Hour boasts itself as one of the scariest haunted houses in the DFW area.

“This year the 13 witches of the Dark Hour Coven have gathered to cast the most terrifying spell … your worst nightmares come to life,” the website explains of this year’s haunted house.

“For 2022 Dark Hour Haunted House is undergoing a massive expansion that includes adding more terrifying scenes, creatures, horrors, and nightmares that are sure to thrill all who enter our Coven,” it continues.

Dark Hour is already open for guests to visit on select nights until October 31 and may feature activities too frightening for children under the age of 10, a disclaimer suggests.

Hangman’s House of Horrors, billed as Fort Worth’s original haunted house, opens on September 30 and is open on weekends until October 31. The building used for the haunted attraction is a military base dating back more than 100 years, the website shares.

Families can partake in Scaredy Cat Nights at Hangman’s House of Horrors, which are nights where the lights turn on and haunted house actors interact with guests. The website explains that it is for those too frightened or too young for the regular festivities.

The Parker House is a Denton haunted house set in the murderous Mary Parker’s house.

“You’ll be immersed in a situation unknown to the outside world. Completely engulfed in the murderous mayhem in which Mary Parker subjected her victims,” the Parker House website states.

“Walk through her living quarters, combined with her torturous chambers where she felt so at home. You will experience the graveyard, where unsuspecting guests found their final resting place,” the description continues. “As you enter into the woods, and journey through all who lurk there, you may be approached by some unsavory characters, but don’t be alarmed. They promise to make it quick.”

Frights’n Lights is located in Frisco, Texas, and opens its doors from October 1 to October 31.

The website calls it “the Halloween event for all ages that fills the gap between basic pumpkin patches and blood and gore haunted houses.”

North Texas families can enjoy food and drinks, go through a corn maze, play haunted games, and more.

House of Spirits is a cocktail-themed haunted house experience that adults of North Texas can enjoy this fall season. It opened on September 16, according to the website, and runs until October 31.

It is an immersive experience held inside a Dallas mansion with opportunities for guests to encounter secret games, tarot readings, specters, and more.

Some of the other top haunted houses in North Texas to visit this season, according to Local Profile, include J&F Haunted House, Reindeer Manor Halloween Park, Junkyard Haunted House, 11th Hour Escape, and Cutting Edge Haunted House.

Almighty Sovereign God, maker and Creator of the Heavens and the Earth through Jesus Christ Savior Lord Redeemer Precious Holy Spirit; why would we welcome to visit “haunted homes” for fun, when we should be on our knees in repentance before you. I ask that you forgive us for not following your paths of old Jeremiah 6:16 it’s no wonder our city, nation, and world is experiencing so much turmoil and no peace. Your people have forgotten you Lord. I pray that we rend not only our clothes but our hearts. I will never stop praying for this city, nation, and world for the transforming of the hearts and minds Amen.
