Valhallan Esports Training plans to open a gaming center in Frisco this summer.

The Pearland-based company is spending an estimated $1.5 million on construction of a 1,690-square-foot space on Preston Road, according to a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation filing. The anticipated delivery date is May 30.

Founded in Houston, Valhallan operates gaming centers in 13 states and in the UK and Canada. More than 70 schools participate in the company’s esports leagues.

“Valhallan originated out of our belief that video games can be a means for enriching lives and creating community for young people,” according to the company’s website. “Valhallan provides premier esports programming and teaches life skills in a fun, safe, and inclusive environment.”

The company uses game titles such as Rocket League, Fortnite, Overwatch, Valorant, Smash: Ultimate, League of Legends, and Apex Legends in its competitions, with game days on Monday through Thursday. Valhallan offers seven weeks of guaranteed play with three weeks of playoffs in which divisions face each other to determine the “best of the best.”

“The Valhallan team has years of experience building platforms, curricula, training systems, and brands – including extensive esports industry experience,” reads the website.

Valhallan is not the only esports league in Frisco. Saurabh Aggarwal has opened an XP League franchise on Warren Parkway, as reported by The Dallas Express. XP League is based in North Carolina but has an office in Dallas.

In 2021, the U.S. had the highest number of active esports competitors globally, according to data from Statista, as covered in The Dallas Express. The industry generated about $243 million over the same period. The following year, some of the most popular games were League of Legends, Halo, Call of Duty, Fortnite Battle Royale, Mortal Kombat, and Apex Legends.
