As DFW Restaurant Week celebrates its 25th year, it is adding a destination restaurant offering discounted dishes for charity.

The month-long parade of eateries added Triple N Ranch Winery this year, and it is truly a special place for foodies and, more importantly, those who celebrate brunch as its own unique experience.

A little more than an hour southeast of Dallas is Trinidad, Texas, the location of Triple N Ranch Winery. Three generations of Texan women proudly worked to establish the ranch and winery.

The Triple N brand comes from Nan Creel, the matriarch of the Ranch and Winery family, her daughter, Nan Michelle Anderson, and her granddaughter, Nan Christina Anderson.

In 2020, Nan Michelle opened Triple N Ranch Winery on her mother’s ranch, where the matriarch had been raising cattle since the 1980s. Now, the brand has joined up with DFW Restaurant Week to showcase its award-winning wines and brunch.

The Dallas Express spoke with Sloan Coleman, wedding and event coordinator for Triple N Ranch Winery, and owner Nan Michelle about why they are teaming up with DFW Restaurant Week and what they have to offer guests at the ranch.

“First of all, they’ve never had a winery. And second of all, they’ve never had a winery that actually has a restaurant. So it was two-fold, expanding from the traditional,” said Coleman. “Like Michelle says, being cowgirls down here at the ranch, her family is always trailblazing new ideas, and it rubs off on me.”

She continued, “[DFW Restaurant organizers] were discussing the brunch idea. And I said, ‘Oh, my gosh, we’ve been doing brunches.’ So it just kind of fell hand in hand; it worked out really seamlessly.”

Nan Michelle explained that the restaurant portion of the ranch came out of necessity when the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission ruled that bars and places that just served alcohol needed to offer food in order to be allowed to stay open during the COVID-19 pandemic.

After the family planted grapevines and converted their 40-year-old barn into a wine tasting room, Nan Michelle and her team curated a small brunch menu and opened it to the public.

“I started taking cultural classes and analogy classes at Grayson College in Denison, and it was so funny because the professor asked, ‘What will make you succeed over someone else?’ I just said, ‘I have Longhorns,'” said Nan Michelle.

The Longhorns are a good reason to make the drive. You can dine alongside their majestic beauty. In addition to the beautiful scenery, Triple N Ranch Winery serves a $29 brunch board.

“Guests get a fruit and yogurt cup, a Texas-shaped waffle, sausage, bacon, fruit, cheese, a little breakfast bread, and a very large mimosa or bellini,” detailed Coleman.

Now more people are coming out for a long weekend because of the accessible VRBO and Airbnb short-term rentals.

“We’re just literally right off the lake,” said Coleman. “So we’re expecting a pretty large crowd over the Labor Day weekend. It’s something new, it’s not sold out, like many of the ones you see in downtown Dallas or Fort Worth, but we have gotten a lot of activity, which we’re very excited about.”

DFW Restaurant Week continues through September 4.

With each meal purchased, a portion of the proceeds goes to North Texas Food Bank and the Lena Pope Home.
