There are multiple weekend events happening across the DFW Metroplex. Here are just a few.

Spring Japanese Festival at the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens:

The Fort Worth Botanic Gardens is hosting the Spring Japanese Festival this weekend on Saturday and Sunday.

The festival highlights Japanese culture and includes many forms of entertainment, such as performances by two taiko drumming groups, traditional dances, karate experts, and Master Swordsman G.K. Sugai.

There will also be an assortment of bonsai trees from the Fort Worth Bonsai Society and demonstrations in origami and calligraphy.

Hungry? Don’t worry! There will be plenty of food to eat from Asian food trucks as well as authentic Japanese dishes prepared by the Fort Worth Japanese Society.

Tickets purchased online for adults cost $12, tickets for seniors cost $10, and tickets for children ages 6-15 cost $6. For children five and under, admission is free. If you purchase tickets onsite, it will be three dollars more.

The festival runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., April 22-23.

Free parking will be available at 3220 Botanic Garden Blvd., Fort Worth, TX 76107, and 3408 West Freeway, Fort Worth, TX 76107.

There will also be overflow parking at Christ Chapel Bible Church and the Dickies Arena Yellow lot.

NEA Big Read Asian Film and Arts Festival:

The Uptown Theater in Grand Prairie and the Irving Public Library are hosting the Asian Film and Arts Festival Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. to honor Asian film and culture.

People who are attending the event will receive free copies of Interior Chinatown by Charles Yu. The copies will be given out while supplies last.

The event will show movies such as Shaolin Soccer and will showcase live lion dancing with a meet and greet with performers afterward.

The event will also feature K-pop dancers and the showing of the film Mirai.

The event is free for all to attend.

Dollar Day at Lone Star Park:

Have you ever wanted to watch horse racing but thought the food and drinks would be too expensive? Well, fear no more, at least for one day. Saturday, April 22, Dollar Day returns to Lone Star Park in Grand Prairie.

Dollar Day at Lone Star Park is a fun-filled way to organize family, friends, or even a “cheap date,” in the words of Lone Star Park.

People who attend can purchase a hot dog, a beer, and a Pepsi and be admitted into the park, all for just $1 each.

Dallas Pizza Fest:

Dallasites, foodies, and pizza lovers get ready to chow down on some major pizza pie Sunday, April 23, at the fifth annual Dallas Pizza Fest.

The weekend event is a pizza truck block party that will showcase kid games, beer, and wine, all in the heart of Deep Ellum.

There will be a $500 pizza eating contest, live shows and performances, and plenty of shops to browse.

The pizza will be coming from local Dallas pizza parlors and trucks that will showcase some of the best pizza in the city.

Tickets for the event are free.

Pizza Fest begins at 12 p.m. and ends at 8 p.m.

Prices per slice may vary per pizza parlor.
