Lone Star NYE: Countdown to 2023 is returning to Dallas this year, featuring fireworks and a native Texas band from Fort Worth.

Casey Donahew and his band will be performing on New Year’s Eve. The band is celebrating 20 years of bringing Texas country music to the rest of the nation.

Fort Worth recently declared a holiday in honor of the star; October 22 is now officially “Casey Donahew Day” in the city. Donahew’s song “Stockyards” is also now the official song of the Fort Worth Stockyards.

Donahew told NBC that the band has a great support system. Not afraid of mixing family with business, Donahew credits the band’s longevity to the family involved.

The country star, who counts 21 No.1 singles to date, has a devoted wife who has been his manager since the very beginning. With family backing him, Donahew said he is confident that his team has his best interest in mind.

When asked about his first show in North Texas, Donahew reminisced about the Thirsty Armadillo. The original bar is no longer open, but the new location is in Fort Worth, near the Stockyards.

He said the original bar could only hold around 60-80 people. Now his shows sell out to standing-room-only crowds.

Casey Donahew will perform right before a fireworks display at Reunion Tower at midnight on Saturday night. The fireworks and light show will feature over 5,000 fireworks and 259 LED lights.

DFW residents can enjoy New Year’s Eve right across from the Reunion Tower fireworks at the Hyatt Regency Dallas by attending one of multiple New Year’s Eve events. These include dancing at Monduel’s Bar from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. with specialty cocktails and dinner at Parrino’s from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.

The celebrations will not stop there, extending all the way to a New Year’s Day brunch the following morning at Centennial Cafe from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Lone Star NYE: Countdown to 2023 will be broadcast in the Dallas-Fort Worth area by NBC 5 DFW from 11:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. CST.
