A new year brings renewed hope of excitement and adventure, and there are plenty of both coming to Dallas in 2022. Thrillist has noted several new hip spots and restaurants that will be opening this year, as well as music acts that will (hopefully) hit Dallas stages.
Well-known Italian restaurant Sfuzzi is slated to open back up in early 2022. Known for authentic Italian fare, including pizza and their popular Frozen Sfuzzi, inspired by the Italian Bellini, Sfuzzi is posed to bring a bit of nostalgia back to town. Sfuzzi originally opened in 1987 and quickly became a hot spot for happy hour. After resurfacing in 2009, Sfuzzi closed again. As the saying goes, the third time’s the charm.
Also coming back for another round is Rodeo Bar, this time located in Downtown Dallas inside the Adolphus Hotel. Debuting in 1981, the restaurant was a staple in Dallas for forty years. Known for its slogan, “cold beer, hot women,” the Rodeo Bar reboot promises plenty of both.
Several concerts were canceled between 2020 and 2021, leaving a lot of artists rescheduling their gigs for 2022. Those that have already locked in to take the stage this year include:
- Elton John (January)
- Kacey Musgraves, Tyler, The Creator, All-Star Legends of Hip-Hop (February)
- Lyle Lovett, John Mayer, Juan Luis Guerra, Dua Lipa, Judas Priest (April)
- They Might Be Giants, Justin Bieber, New Kids on the Block, Coldplay (May)
- Santana with Earth, Wind & Fire (July)
- Swedish House Mafia (August)
- Alicia Keys, “Weird Al” Yankovic (September)
- Roger Waters (October)
San Francisco wine, whiskey, and cocktail bar, District, will open its newest location in Addison in 2022, bringing its “globally-inspired shareable plates,” along with a mixture of music, art, sports, and entertainment in a relaxed environment for friends and family to enjoy. There will be space for groups and an extensive wine and whiskey list.
The Tower Petroleum Building, which housed the FBI from 1937 to 1943, will get new life in 2022. The 1930 art deco hotel is being renovated to become the Renaissance Saint Elm Dallas Downtown Hotel. The French-inspired restaurant, Toussaint Brasserie, will open along with the new high-rise. Named after the famed New Orleans writer and performer, Toussaint Brasserie will serve French-inspired foods starting February 2022.
As we previously noted, the immersive experience Frida: Immersive Dream opens on February 3.
Red Stix Asian Food will open a second location at Mustang Station in Farmers Branch after a successful launch by celebrity chef Uno Immanivong in the SMU area. There will be classic and new menu items, including robust salads and frozen ranch water. The new location features a heated and air-conditioned patio. Opening day is January 24.
In October, The Dallas Express brought news of a new city park, and in 2022 it will become a reality. Downtown will be home to over five acres of new green space known as Carpenter Park, located near Deep Ellum and East Dallas. Residents can enjoy a basketball court, dog park, gardens, an interactive fountain, and children’s areas.
