This Saturday, Asia Times Square in Grand Prairie and the Otaku Food Festival are teaming up to host the Cherry Blossom Festival.

The Cherry Blossom Festival is a spring festival celebrated in Japan and around the world.

The event will showcase a plethora of local vendors, eateries, artists, and musicians from the DFW Metroplex.

It focuses on delivering a fun and festive family atmosphere that showcases authentic Japanese street food as well as offering food from other Asian cuisines such as Thai, Filipino, Vietnamese, and others. Highlights will include Taiwanese boba tea and Vietnamese egg rolls.

“For me personally, my history is I used to sell Japanese street food,” said Vincent Tran, CEO of the Otaku Food Festival, speaking to The Dallas Express.

There will also be Sumo wrestling, cosplay contests, and local artist for live music.

Entry into the event is free, and food, souvenirs, and artwork will be available at an additional cost.

It is recommended that people attending the event bring cash and an empty stomach.

People are also encouraged to take Uber or carpool.

“At most food events, you get a lot to eat, but you’re just eating there’s nothing else to do. Here, you have all the anime booths to visit, musical entertainment, and voice actors,” said Tran, speaking to The Dallas Express.

“We think the event is going to be good and pretty crowded. We added more food vendors,” said Tran.

Tran added that there are no chain food vendors but all authentic street food.

The Cherry Blossom Festival begins Saturday, April 22: 12 P.M.-10 P.M. and concludes Sunday, April 23: 12 P.M.-8 P.M.

The festival combines the Dallas food scene with the Dallas anime scene and is designed to celebrate the different Asian cultures as well as bring communities in the DFW area together.
