Guests are invited to grab some pink skates and channel their inner Regina George at an upcoming themed skating event hosted at Galleria Dallas Ice Skating Center.

Galleria Dallas will kick off 2024 with its very first themed skate called “Mean Girls” on January 10 from 6 to 8 p.m. Tickets cost $12, plus $5 to rent skates. The evening promises to be filled with fun, whether you are a fan of the movie or not. The dress code for the event is “pink.”

The themed skating event coincides with the release of a musical remake of Mean Girls, a 2004 comedy written by Saturday Night Live alum Tina Fey. Fey also wrote the screenplay for the latest adaptation of the story in which the new girl, Cady Heron, faces off with Regina George, the leader of an A-list crew called “the Plastics.”

The new movie features songs from composer Jeff Richmond and lyricist Nell Benjamin, who both helped adapt the original movie to the stage in a Broadway musical of the same name in 2018.

For anyone not confident enough on their skates, beginner lessons for all ages are running at the Galleria Dallas Ice Skating Center through January 7. It may be worth the investment, with several other themed skates likely to appear on the schedule.

Last year, Galleria Dallas revealed a Galentine’s Skate Night on February 11, as well as a Taylor Swift Skate Night featuring her greatest hits and a floral installation on April 1.

If ice skating isn’t your thing, you may want to try out the adults-only roller rink that is slated to open soon in Dallas’ Design District, as previously covered by The Dallas Express. Ride On dials into nostalgia for the 80s while also offering some choice craft food and cocktails.
