Quaker Oats is recalling multiple granola products out of an abundance of caution due to a possible Salmonella contamination, the company announced on Friday. These products were distributed in the United States as well as Guam, Saipan, and Puerto Rico, according to the FDA.

Salmonella is a potentially deadly foodborne bacterial infection that causes 1.35 million infections in the United States per year. Of this number, 26,500 infections will be severe enough to result in hospitalizations with 420 dying of the affliction, according to the CDC.

Specific products affected by the recall include Quaker Big Chewy Bars in various flavors, Quaker Chewy Dipps in multiple flavors, Puffed Granola in assorted flavors, and Simply Granola in several flavors. For a complete list of all recalled items with UPC codes and Best By dates, click here.

There are currently no reported infections linked to the products. However, consumers in possession of any recalled products are advised to dispose of them and contact Quaker Consumer Relations, either by phone or through the website, to receive a refund.

In addition to these granola products, other food items have recently been linked to Salmonella. The FDA reported that cases of the infection linked to cantaloupes have been steadily rising across the United States, prompting even more recalls, as previously covered by The Dallas Express.

The CDC reported that, as of December 14, 302 people across 42 states have been infected with one of the outbreak strains of Salmonella, with 129 hospitalized and four deaths reported.
