A new major hospital in the Methodist Health System is scheduled to open in Celina by 2025, making it the first in the city.

The new five-story hospital will be located at the intersection of Dallas Parkway and FM 428, per the Celina Record. It will be accompanied by a medical office as well.

Like many parts of Texas, Collin County has seen tremendous population growth, with its number of inhabitants nearly doubling between 2010 and 2020.

With more people comes the need for more services and resources.

For Methodist Health, the $200 million project is a sign of its long-term investment in the region.

Pam Stoyanoff, president and chief operating officer at Methodist Health, explained that it was there “for the long haul.”

“We’re going to continue to grow with Celina, so as they grow and that community grows, we’ll grow over the years to come,” Stoyanoff added, per the Celina Record.

The site upon which Methodist Health’s future campus will sit spans 46 acres.

Its facilities will include three operating rooms with 30 medical-surgical beds, a cardiac catheterization lab, and two procedure rooms. There will also be a dozen emergency department beds, ten postpartum beds, and eight intensive care unit beds.

The hospital will be able to provide a range of medical services, including cancer care, women’s services, orthopedics, and cardiovascular care.

Robotic surgery will even be possible through a da Vinci Surgical System.

Methodist Health isn’t the only health service provider expanding its footprint in Collin County.

As The Dallas Express reported in late February, the Children’s Health System of Texas purchased a nearly 20-acre campus in North Plano in December.

In a statement to the Dallas Business Journal, Children’s Health explained that the purpose of the acquisition was to expand its operations to better serve the pediatric needs of those living in the area.

But these types of ventures also benefit the local communities in other ways.

The hospital and medical office building will also create job opportunities for the local community.

About 200 jobs should be available at the beginning of operations, per the Celina Record. This number is expected to increase to 300 or more within the first two years of the hospital’s opening.

Alexis Jackson, the executive director of the Celina Economic Development Corporation, predicts that the project will give a long-term economic boost to the city as well.

“[The] peripheral businesses that will be attracted — pharmacies, doctors’ offices, rehabilitation facilities, and medical suppliers — will drastically impact the economic picture as Methodist Hospital’s campus here develops,” explained Jackson, per the Celina Record.
